O’Connor
Graduate Scholarship
for 2011 - 2012
For
Distinguished
Graduate
Work in the History of the
Irish in the New York City
Area.
Open
to
graduate
students at the masters and doctoral levels.
The
John
O’Connor
Scholarship includes a $1000 award for distinguished
graduate work in the
form of scholarly unpublished writing covering any
aspect of the history
of the Irish in the New York
City
area.
Submissions should be
primarily historical in character.
Work
completed in related disciplines in the humanities
and
social sciences will be
considered.
(In
case of more than one scholarship winner, the
award
amount
will be shared evenly.)
Winning
submission
may be published in the journal, New
YorkIrish History
Submissions
may
be in
any standard scholarly format and should be at
least4000 words in
length, exclusive of
notes and
references. They must be typed double-spaced, and
stapled. Three copies
should
be sent.
Please
include
a
one-page resume, a one-page faculty-advisor
recommendation, and a
stamped
self-addressed envelope.
Deadline:
submissions
should be postmarked no later than
July 15, 2012. Applicants should

The James T. McHugh Scholarship for 2012
This scholarship
is awarded every second year for
distinguished work in the History of the Irish in
the New York City
area. It is for scholarly work done
in partial fulfillment of
requirements for a Bachelor’s degree, and is open
to any student
enrolled at the undergraduate level in a college
or university.
Submissions for
the McHugh Scholarship should be primarily
historical in character but
work completed in related disciplines in the
humanities and
social
sciences
will be considered.
The Scholarship
provides a $250 award and the possibility of
publication in
the
Roundtable’s annual journal, New
York Irish History.
Deadline:
submissions
should be postmarked no later than
June 29, 2012.
Submissions may be in any standard scholarly
format and should be at
least 2,500 words in length, exclusive of
footnotes and references.
They must be typed, double-spaced, and stapled.
Applicants should include a one-page letter of
recommendation from a
faculty member.
Applicants are invited to send three (3) copies
